Launching the 12th Arava Seminar for Sustainable Development

The result of a collaboration between Tel Aviv University – the Boris Mints Institute for Strategic Policy Solutions to Global Challenges, the School of Social and Policy Studies, the Department of
Public Policy, Afeka College of Engineering, and the Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Company, located in southern Arava. Eilat-Eilot has been working for a decade for regional economic-technological-socio-development based on the most significant geographical resource – The sun. This resource is the heart of all the organization’s activities: generating solar-free electricity for 100,000 people, promoting technological innovation and cleantech, regulation and
policy advancement, international conferences, a training center, and more.
This year’s research topics will be:
- Smart and precise agriculture
- Locating water leaks after the water distribution in the piping systems
- Enhancing farmer-owned small-scale solar power generation in India
- A combination of sustainability, community, and education
- Remote monitoring for small farmers using apps
- Examination and development of an education program and a financial model adapted to
the beneficiaries of the agricultural program
- Protein production from garbage by the black fly
- Hydroponic farming
